Maton guitars was founded in 1946 by guitar builder and repairman, Bill May. Since 1946 the Maton guitar company has been a 100% family owned Australian company, now operated by Linda & Neville Kitchen (Bill May’s daughter and son in law).
Bringing the Maton guitar line into the GitterPicker String Factory started in July of 2004 with a brief meeting in Nashville, TN between Steve Radcliff and Neville Kitchen. At that time GitterPicker was just getting started and the Maton line was not a perfect fit for the stage of our business. However, after 3 years of customer loyalty, hard work, and several meetings with Maton personnel we are excited to announce that the GitterPicker String Factory is now an official Maton dealer.
Our stock of Maton guitars is truly "special". There are less than 25 stores in the WORLD who carry Maton guitars. Working with Maton takes patience. Their instruments are built with precise attention to detail. This cannot be done in a rushed fashion. To top all of this off, the GitterPicker String Factory completes the instrument by making the final adustments to ensure optimal playability after importing from Australia.
