Steve Raz has been playing guitar for 24 years. He studied music theory at Cleveland State University and has taught guitar for several years at various music stores in the Cleveland area.
Steve played lead guitar in numerous bands over the years, the most well-known was Kidd Wicked, opening for many national "hair" type bands, including Warrant, XYZ, and Alice in Chains. He has headlined at the Akron Agora, Cleveland Agora, Nautica Stage, the Empire, and numerous other Cleveland clubs. He also opened for The Lynch Mob at the Cleveland Agora Auditorium with over 2,000 in attendance. He and his band Kidd Wicked played at the Cat Club in New York City in 1991.
In 1991, Steve played in the "Guitar Wars" at the Empire. Out of over 70 guitar players in Cleveland, Steve was a top 4 finalist.
Steve played guitar with Eddie Money on the WMMS Morning Zoo in 1992. Steve played lead guitar live while Eddie Money played keyboards and performed the vocals on the song "Two Tickets to Paradise". Steve was also the lead guitarist on the WMMS "Gonzo Radio", in the early 90's. He played guitar live on the radio on Friday nights with "Rocco the Rock-dog". Steve has played in local cover-bands ever since.
Steve played the National Anthem on the electric guitar at the Cleveland Cavaliers game at the Gund Arena on April 3rd, 2004. The game was nationally televised on a Sunday afternoon, and was a sellout crowd of 20,000. He played at center court seconds before the game started, with his Jackson guitar and a Marshall half-stack.
Main influences for Steve are Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Jake E. Lee, George Lynch, Warren DeMartini. He mainly teaches rock and roll, but likes to teach the individual student what they want to learn. He can play a number of classical pieces as well.
