Upgrading your saddle to bone is the quickest way to increase volume, sustain, and overtones on your guitar. A properly constructed saddle is built to match the radius of the fingerboard and to place your strings at the proper height above the fingerboard. Fitting the saddle to the saddle slot requires a lot of experience.  If the bottom of the saddle is not level with the underside of the bridge, tone will be lost.   If the saddle is too loose, you will be losing tone and volume. If the saddle is too tight, you run the risk of splitting the bridge.
