| Crack Repairs

 Improper humidification can result in cracks in the top, back, or sides of a wooden instrument. Instruments made of solid woods are the most susceptible to cracking along the grain line. Crack repairs require special knowledge, tools, and patience. Most cracks can be repaired via a process known as cleating. Cleating involves the installation of small wooden cleats along the length of the crack.
